Joseph Rowley Ancestor from Manchester

Hi

I noticed a Joseph Rowley in the website, a survivor of the 1836 blast at the Bignall colliery. My GGGF was a Joseph Rowley from Manchester . He married an Eliza Healey and had a son, Robert b abt 1844. I hope you or one of your mates, can help me to add some bark onto the family tree I am trying to compile.

Regards,

Colin Rowley

Hi there

I am researching my family history and wondered if you may be able to throw any light on a John Steele who died in a pit disaster. I think his brother George must be the young lad killed age 14 at Minnie, however ever oral family testimony had the both at Chatfield (Norton) c1881

Many thanks

Joanne Chamberlain

I am searching for information on my Grandfather William Murray. He died in the Michael Coal Mine Disaster in 1939. I believe he was 27years old at the time. He left behind a young wife and 5 small children, my Dad being 5 at the time. Please help me and my Dad if you can with the records of this accident. There seems to be a lot of information on other accidents but not this one.
Thank you.

Regards,

Audrey Murray

Adolphus J Archer died at Mossfield colliery 21st May 1947

Hi

I have, from your site, discovered an Adolphus J Archer died at Mossfield colliery 21st May 1947, the local paper stated that he was one of four brothers working at the pit, from the obituary I can see that his father Charles archer was still alive at the time.

They are all part of a long lost family of my Father and I would like to trace the four other brothers, is there any way of finding the names of miners that worked at the pit at that time so that those with the Archer surname can be traced.

Regards
Gordon Archer

Creswell Pit Disaster Lawrence Brady area 5rescue team

Dear all.
My grandfather Lawrence Brady was in attendance at this fire as part of the rescue team from area 5.
Has anyone any knowledge of him or any pit related photographs. He was employed in the Mansfield Collieries and Derbyshire and surrounding.
Many thanks
Karen Wright.

Barnsley Fire and Haller Around Mid to Late 1940s

Hi
I'm making an enquiry for a colleague. They are researching their family history and one member of their family was involved in a fire at a Barnsley pit around mid/late 1940s. Although they were not killed, they were badly burned and worked on the coal face after returning to work.

I'm looking for lists of injured miners and wonder if you could point me in the right direction as to where/how copies of such lists might be obtained. The surname I'm looking for is Haller.

Regards
