The Rutherglen mining memorial, manufactured by Jason Paterson Fabrication & Design. The memorial sits on a base constructed by South Lanarkshire College.
The design for the memorial itself evolved from ideas developed by Bob McDonald, Colin Findlay, South Lanarkshire College and Jason Paterson.
The oval plaque on the memorial bears the simple inscription: 'In Memory of Those who Worked in Rutherglen Coal Mines'
The Rutherglen Mining Memorial is located in Rutherglen Main Street, South Lanarkshire, just opposite the Town Hall, a striking sandstone building with a square tower.
It was unveiled by Nicky Wilson, NUM Scottish President, at a ceremony in Rutherglen Town Hall on 29 September 2023.
