19 Nov 2010. New Zealand's worst mining disaster in almost a century. Pike River Mine, Grey District, New Zealand's south island. 'No survivors' after second blast. All 29 men, aged 17 to 62 missing, in a New Zealand coal mine, since Friday, are believed to be dead after a second explosion. 24 New Zealanders, 2 Australians, 2 Britons and a South African. The Britons were Peter Rodger, 40, from Perthshire and Malcolm Campbell, 25, from St Andrews in Fife were both originally from Scotland.
