Now A Nursing Home

In the late 70s, I was a teacher working with a colleague out of The Pines Teachers' Centre (now a nursery).

We produced three tape/slide presentations for schools, one on the Cat and Fiddle Windmill, one on the Ilkeston fire station and one on the Miners' Rescue Station. To this day I remember the effort that had to be made to remember that fresh air was only a couple of feet above us as they took us down the training tunnels.

Sadly, I suspect that all the resource packs we created were destroyed when the Pines closed down.

Best wishes

While googling the Miners' Welfare, I came across the attached - pure chance. Not sure about the copyright on the pictures.
