CABLE RAILWAY Big buckets are filled with coal and set off on their journey by cable car. Various shots as they pass by the central powerhouse. Various shots as they make their way along. L/S of the cable cars near cliff edge. M/S as one enters tunnel to Dover harbour. L/S of cable car and white cliffs of Dover in background. M/S as the buckets empty into bunkers on the pier. Sunshine Silver Mine in Idaho where they had a big fire in the 70's with 100 odd killed. It recently re-opened, only to close yet again in the last few weeks. RegardsBrian |

It is believed that the Markham Colliery Explosion of 1938 was caused when some tubs ran uncontrolled down an incline and were derailed spilling coal dust into the air. At the same time they cut an electrical cable causing a spark which was the source of the ignition of the coal dus |
