Where can I get information about the Lindsay colliery disaster in Kelty 1957?

Can I get information on or a book from the internet on witness statements regarding the Lindsay colliery disaster in Kelty 1957? I have an uncle who worked in the pit and on the night shift the day the disaster took place.

Regards.

Alex Keatings

My Dad, Dick Shipley, came from Kelty and worked in various mines from about 1940's

I came upon this site when I saw the name Archie from Kelty. My Dad died a few years ago here in Australia. The collieries and accidents I know my Dad had connections with them.

His name was Dick Shipley he came from Kelty and worked in various mines from about 1940's till he left to come to Australia in 1966. He worked down the mines but before he came to Australia, was working with the mines as a first aid superintendant and teaching new miners first aid.

I have a lot of memories of my Gran in Kelty too.

I just wondered if Archie knew my Dad or my Dad's brother who was a few years younger also working down the mines.

I would just love to hear if there was any connection. It was very interesting reading about Archie and the information submitted.

Regards June Adams

I'm a Descendant of Miners

Dear Fionn
Tracing my family tree I discovered that a number of generations were all in the mining field.

I am still sketchy in a number of places, within the tree, at putting the mine to the individual; however, my uncle Archie (Campbell) of Kelty, Fife still dedicates his time to the miner's of this region.

My uncle Archie also gave testimony at the Lindsay Colliery disaster of 1957. He has given me some really good reading materials pertaining to the mines which really intrigues me.

I forward some photos to you of articles and memorials that my uncle has worked hard for.

Hope you enjoy the additional resources for your site.

Vanessa
P.S. You had an e-mail from a 'Mr. Bearcat', he should know my uncle and family since he is from Kelty too.
