Subject: Is it possible to visit the Trimdon Grange Colliery where my Grandfathers worked as children?

Hi,
I am travelling to the UK in September and I would be obliged if you could tell me if it is possible to visit the Trimdon Grange Colliery where my 2nd and 3rd Great Grandfathers worked as children.

Also do you happen to know if the Durham Mining Museum expects to have their new display centre open by the time I will be visiting?

Regards,
Ron Wilson

The Durham Mining Museum's display room at Thornley Community Centre has closed due to relocation. They will announce the opening times and new location when the move is complete but I do not know when that will be. Also the Trimdon Grange Colliery was in the North East so they might be able to advise you on that also. You could Email them at:- webmaster@dmm.org.uk
