Whilst undertaking some research for our imminent exhibition 'Don't Go Down the Mine' at Wigan Museum of Life I had the fortune to stumble across your web page. The resources on there are excellent. For my part of the exhibition I am looking at 'the workforce' - different jobs, everyday life, superstitions etc.
I noticed there was mention of a documentary done for BBC 4 - do you know if it is still available anywhere (possibly on BBC I-player) Could you tell me when it was made or broadcast? We have quite a lot of photographs here at Wigan archives, but if you can think of any interesting anecdotes referring to Wigan or one of the local pits that would be excellent - such a mine of information not been able to find the time to explore it as thoroughly as I would like. Anything that you think may be of interest to ourselves would be gratefully received.
