Dear sir
My father worked at Sneyd Pit during the war years, he was on standby to help the rescuers in the 1942 Sneyd disaster, his name was Charles William Turner (Bill Turner) would be interested if there is any one who remembers him.

Thank you
John Turner

I have some information regarding one of the victims of this disaster. His name was Thomas Moulton and he was a miner and a fire/safety officer.

He was married to Margaret and had a 3 year old daughter named Josephine. Margaret was pregnant at the time of the explosion and subsequently had a baby girl also called Margaret, who is my mother.

That is all I know but my mother and aunty may be able to provide further information if you are interested.

Yours faithfully

Elise Fleming

My Dad Remembers Seeing The Women Running To The Colliery

Hi, just thought I’d let you know that I have just visited your site and found it very interesting.

My dad told me about the disaster, and that he had a relative, H. Cartwright, who died there that day, and he remembers seeing the women running to the colliery, as a young lad. I hope you continue to find facts and information etc as its fascinating to read.

Best Wishes,
Jayne
