Good Afternoon, I am doing an interest lecture on Sir Jimmy Savile and his life, as a works project, and wondered if you would be able to provide me with any information about the mining accident he was involved in when he was a hound Bevan boy. Rgds John Tandy |

You may be able to help. To take on a new born child in 1904 was a very risky business indeed. If the child died within a few weeks, charges of murder were often brought up and for some reason, a great deal of effort was made to keep my Grandmother alive. Born in Yorkshire, Mother lived in Lincs and adopted parents in Notts must have been a logistical nightmare to arrange so I am looking for a connection, maybe the same name may come up. Her Mother was an Anyan; wealthy farmers in Lincs, her Father is the one who was protected so apart from any name connection I am also checking for a masonic or church involvement. By the way, she married John Edward Vale who was for a short time a miner in Pinxton. |

Gentlemen, I am currently looking for information on the death of John Smart who died on March 19/1847. John was working at the Fothar Quarry in Collessie, Fife, Scotland. I realize this is a long shot, but if you are unable to assist me in finding information about the mine or the events of the incident could you point me in a direction that may be of assistance. Thank you,

Hello. My name is Ron Thacker. My family worked at the Bretby Colliery for many decades, from 1870s to 1920s. I am looking for any information regarding life/work at the colliery during the first part of the last century. I have exhausted web searches, with little results. If you could post this missive, I may be fortunate enough to have contact with someone who worked or has information/pictures of Bretby Colliery. Thank you Ron Thacker |
