I am interested in Denis Doxey who is listed on your web page as of 14 Church St. Westhoughton.

The reason for the interest is that my cousin’s great uncle, Thomas Partington, was living with his family at that address for a long time and we had never come across Denis before. However, on doing more research I found Denis listed in the Westhoughton section of the Lancs Parish Clerks website as being of 14 Charles St, not Church St. I would be interested to find out which web site is correct so we can either carry on researching Denis or conclude that he was never at Church St !!

If you can shed any light onto this query I would love to hear from you. On the LPC he is listed as Dennis Dorcey.

I checked the 1901 census, I could not find a Denis Doxey but there is a Denis Dorcey whose father was a coal miner, they lived at 5 Damstead Fold, Westhaughton but that was 9 years before the disaster. I have now swapped the names round.

In 1901, at 140 Manchester Road, Westhoughton, there was a John Partington 65 and head of household, wife Sarah 55 and son Thomas 14. Both were miners.
Also at 140 was John W Partington 19 a coal miner and head of household, together with his wife Mary.
