An auto-degassing chamber was developed at Bevercotes after 1990 power failure in the area due to snow storms.
A proto-type 25mph NCB / Clayton 3 carriages on bogies, 24 seater unit train (MRDE 1982), with driving cabs at both ends went from pit bottom in 1983.
