On Monday, nothing worthy of note occurred until ten minutes past one o'clock when another body was reached. It was found in the north level of the Blantyre section and proved to be that of John M'Dade, 21, single, who resided with his mother at Auchentibber, High Blantyre. He was buried in Blantyre cemetery.

Mc KNIGHT William - 1888 – 12/05/1888 – Age 43 – Collier. Rose Bridge, Rose Bridge & Douglas Bank Coal & Iron Co. Ltd., Wigan, Lancashire. Inspection made and inquest attended. Deceased with five other men were going down to a mouthing in the shaft. Two got off the cage and let down the leaf when the other men followed and as the last man the deceased was getting off the cage was raised and deceased thrown down the pit. The engineman and banksmen swore that a signal had been given and from experiments afterwards made, it appeared likely that the lever of the leaf had, when being lowered, caught against the signal wire and so rung the bell.
