This shows the Acoustic Barrier constructed to reduce the noise levels to the men waiting to travel inbye.

Inside the Acoustic Barrier; this barrier had an unexpected benefit, not only did it reduce the noise levels by 12dB
It also increased the comfort of the men.
By attaching a door at the outbye end it reduced the velocity of the cold intake air passing through it.

This barrier was an idea that I had following the success of a trial elsewhere in the mine; it was constructed of 4"x2" timbers with wood-wool slabs attached to each side, in-filled with rockwool and the outer surface's plastered with hardstop.
