Colliery losing money, closed 8th November 1991 as uneconomical.

Approximately 70m tons/tonnes of saleable coal was produced in the lifetime of the colliery, however the amount of dirt produced was in the region of 40% per minecar/skip resulting in one of the largest dirt tips in the country.

Confusion and mis-naming the seams in the correlation created problems and the seam known as High Hazel in 1916 was Main Bright from 1950 and the Low Hazel was also renamed High Hazel from mid 1960s.
