I had started a card school at Lunch time earlier once the Survey department had become efficient and topside all Statutory surveys and levellings and theodolite base layups that overlapped the dial bases after 3 or 4 surveys, allowing Assistants and Apprentices to gain experience. If anyone wanted anything urgently then of course the game folded, but most were aware and usually called after we had finished. David Lawson the new Safety Engineer as well as Brian Wormald Training Officer would join us at Lunch time for the card game.
