Just wondered if you had come across the death of Alfred Siddall of 30 station Road Brimington.
Think it was one of the Staveley mines.

Thank you

Father, John Baxter Piggford, Mansfield Colliery, Crown Farm.

Hello,
I am trying to find information about an accident at Crown Farm in 1949 in which my Father, John Baxter Piggford (known as Jack) was killed. He was a Deputy and Shotfirer at the pit.  His elder brother Harry worked there as an Overman and their father, also Harry, was an engine driver. Another miner, whose name I think was Les Patterson (not the comedian!)  also died in the accident.

All our family records have been lost and I should be grateful if you could help me in my research.

Mansfield Colliery, Crown Farm

My mother kept in contact with Les Patterson’s widow for a few years after their death. They had a daughter called Stephanie but I lost contact with them sometime in the 1950s.

Many Thanks
Alan Baxter Piggford

I worked at Brackley Colliery, Little Hulton Bolton

I worked at Brackley Colliery, Little Hulton Bolton in 1959 to 1961 as a bellman on the coal face. So I had to do my coal face training, I really enjoyed it.

I have always said miners are the best men I have ever worked with in my life, we all looked after one another. I must have been one of the last to do their coal face training on a long wall face.

I left the mines in 1965. But they were brilliant memories I loved every minute of it.

Looking For Kevin Brian Moore, Miner, Pit Near Mansfield, Early 80's

I am looking for a man named Kevin Brian Moore. He was a coal face worker in the early 80's and the mine he worked at was just down the road from where he lived. It was somewhere near Mansfield, in a small village at the time but I don't know if he's still there. Everywhere else I've looked I've came up against brick walls. There is a lot of other information I have about him, but there of a personal kind of nature which doesn't help in my search and the only other person that gave me the information (which sadly I can't remember stuff like i.e. where he lived etc) is my mum who recently passed away.

I would be grateful for any information anyone could give me regarding this.

Looking For Old Certificate In The Name Of Samuel Machin.

Dear sir,
I am looking at an old certificate in the name of Samuel Machin a relative of mine. This gentleman served throughout the first world war and as the instructor was Walter Clifford can I assume that it was awarded between 1918 and 1923?

Thanks for your help.
Peter W Machin
