Hi, I’ve just found your site, my name is Brian Pover, and I find that two of my great uncles died in the Diglake Disaster. I have spoken to my dad and he has filled in a few details, he never mentioned that his uncles had died in the disaster, so I’m now on the search for more information, if you can help I would be grateful, |

Can anyone give any information regarding accident to Hugh Reynolds on 4th January 1900. His death certificate says he was killed by a coal fall at Talk Colliery on this date. We would like to know if this was a major fall or just this one man being killed. The Colliery was Bunkers Hill No.3. It would appear that Hugh, a collier aged 30, was the only person to die in this particular accident. He was involved in a fall of coal and stone at the working face, in a ditching alongside an old level in 7ft. Banbury Seam. He was getting down coal shattered by a shot and died on 7th Jan 1900 a few days after the accident. |
