Interpretation board for the Moorgreen Colliery country park

Hi
Hopefully you can help me. I work for Groundwork Greater Nottingham, a charity based in the area.

I am currently working on an interpretation board for the Moorgreen Colliery country park- Colliers Wood. We would like to include some old photos, I have looked at your site and found one of the pit head- would it be possible to use the photo on the board and possibly a leaflet?

I enjoyed reading other sections of you website and am wondering if you have any information or contacts about the pit that are not on there. I would be very grateful for any help or advice you may have.

Thanks a lot.
Angela

Looking For A Photo of Baton Colliery, Shotts, Lanarkshire

Wonder if you could help at all. I was born at Baton Cottage, next to Baton Colliery in Shotts, Lanarkshire in 1941. My father, William B. Stewart was the colliery manager. Now in those days not many photographs were taken and I would love to have a photograph of Baton Cottage which I know no longer exists, and also would like a photograph of Baton Colliery.
Hoping you can help me in my quest to see where I was born!!!
Thank you Janette

How could the mining practices of Elsecar colliery be reconstructed from the current remains.

Dear sir
I am writing to you as a student studying A level Archeaeology at Barnsley College. I am carrying out a personal study on Elsecar colliery (also known as Hemingfield pit). My investigation is looking into how the mining practices of Elsecar colliery could be reconstructed from the current remains. I would therefore be very grateful if you could forward me any information on the above matter to help me in my studies. All information will be fully credited, and if you would like a copy of the finished investigation, I will send you a copy.

Many thanks,

Tom Evans.

I could use Photos of Mow Cop and Harriseahead

Hallo,
My name is Philip Leese. I'm the nearest approach the Kidsgrove area has to a local historian. I am in the final stages of writing a book on the Mow Cop - H'head area for Churnet Valley books, and am on the look out for photos of mines and miners which I could use. Do you have any or know of anybody I could contact to get some? The main mines concerned are Stone Trough, Tower Hill, Trubshaw, Moss Pits, Hall O'Lea, Mount Pleasant, H'head, but there were, of course, other short-lived mines and footrails as you will know. I'd be grateful for any help you can offer.

Thanks
Philip R. Leese.
