Hi I noticed your mail with family of Mr Bartholomew and thought you might like some additional information I have on him taken from a newspaper article of his accident.

Thomas Bartholomew, 42 of The Green, Royston, died at Barnsley Beckett Hospital, as the result of a fracture of the base of the skull sustained from a sudden fall of roof.

He is featured amongst a list of names I've been assembling for Monckton pits here:-

While attaching his pony to a full tub there was a fall from an unseen slip.

Oswald Walter Brook aged 57, detaller
He was withdrawing timber when piece of roof fell without warning. Died 2nd Feb.

24th Nov 1915
Ernest Ogley aged 17, trammer
Assisting to couple full tubs when slab fell from side and displaced a prop.

Out of interest I Goggled Arthur Walker, Annesley Miner and your site came up.

He was my Grandfather, lovely that after all these years he is remembered.

Arthur's son, Edward Walker, is now 84. He was a miner and President of Newstead Colliery's NUM during the strike.

Hello, I am Alan Curtis. My Aunt and uncle, Lawson and Florence Storey, lived at number 6 Victoria Terrace. Florence was a Curtis. I believe it was their 14 year old son, Louis Clifford who was killed, and therefore should read Louis Clifford Storey.

A Small correction to your accident database.

The Poundall who died 9 Aug 1882 at Langley Mill was not Charles Poundall. It was Tristam Poundall my Great Great Grandfather.  Charles Poundall was his brother (he died 1885)
