DAINTY J. - 1857 - 10/09/1857 – Age 19. Gwane, William Mills and Sons, Dudley, Worcestershire. Explosion of firedamp at the far end of the workings in the rise or crop side of the pit. The falling in of the roof had closed up the airways and the pit on that side filled up with gas and the subsequent want of discipline unquestionably caused the immediate act of firing the sulphur. 9 killed.

DAINTY James - 1850 – Age 20 – Miner. Stone Pit, Darlaston, Staffordshire. In March or April, 1850, week an inquest was held at the Queens Arms, in this town, before T M Phillips Esq., coroner, on Dainty, who was killed on the previous Tuesday, by a large quantity of clod and stone suddenly falling upon him during the time he was holing, with several other men, in the hollows of a stone pit at Addensbrook Field, in the Parish of Darlaston, He had been cautioned by a fellow workerman (who was about a yard and a half from him) a short time before the occurrence, when he tried the work with his pike, but thinking it was safe, did not make use of any of the timber provided for propping Verdict, Accidental Death (Staffordshire Gazette).
